Test #1 - ASMedia XHCI Controller
I'll need to spend some more time thinking about this one and hunting around for a card that exhibits the same failure. Feel free to share any other interesting details you find on this in the meantime.

As you'll see in my comments for Test #3, ASMedia controllers seem to be rather infamous for not playing well (with libusb). BzztPloink/LazyDodo (as he's known on IRC/github) has seem similar problems and is now starting to work on a Cypress Windows-driver based backend in an attempt to give Windows users an alternative in these situations (and also to test performance differences).

Much of this post is the result of chatting with BzztPloink on IRC, so it might be a good idea to visit #bladerf on Freenode and chat in real time. (We should do our best to post important information and resolutions back on the forum, of course.)

Just for a sanity check, mind trying the libusb(x) listdevs.c example, (a statically linked executable is included in the libusbx release's examples/bin64 directory). This should just verify that libusb isn't seeing the device, as opposed to a defect in libbladeRF causing it to be accidentally skipped.



Test #2 - NEC/Renesas Chipset

This seems consistent with what we've seen -- cards based upon NEC/Renesas chips seem to be behaving well. FWIW, we're trying to put together a list of working setups here.



Test #3 - VIA VL800 Controller

BzztPloink (LazyDodo) has actually seen this exact behavior with an ASMedia controller, and has submitted a libusb patch to address it.

He's hosting a patched version of the libusb binaries on his site.

Let us know if that libusb patch addresses this failure case. I don't believe it will address the failure in Test #1, but it's worth a shot.

Got a basic backend going, enough to program the fpga and run sdr radio / sdr#, if you want to give it a shot drop by on irc and i'll hook you up.
